The problem isn’t that you haven’t met anyone.

It’s that there is always somebody else one swipe away, so nobody ever finds out what the person in front of them is actually like.

Every dating app is built to keep you swiping, because swiping is the product. The result is a queue of half-conversations that end the first time one goes quiet — not because it was going badly, but because there was always a cheaper option than trying.

SWU removes the option. When two people agree to match, the deck closes for both of them for thirty days. There is no one else to talk to, so the only thing left to do is talk to each other.

How it works

A like isn’t a match. Someone commits to the full thirty days first. You then have 48 hours to answer, and they can’t browse while they wait for you.
Once you both say yes, the deck closes. Thirty days, one person, no swiping — for both of you. It is enforced on our servers, not merely suggested in the app.
After 48 hours, either of you can ask out. If you both agree, it ends immediately and neither of you pays anything. Two days is long enough to know, short enough that nobody is serving a sentence.
Leaving alone is always allowed. From the first day. It costs you seven days out of the deck; the other person is freed at once and pays nothing.
Feeling unsafe costs you nothing. Block and report is instant, unconditional, and never carries a penalty or a waiting period. The lock limits who you can match with. It never limits getting away from someone.

Once you’re matched, both of you see everything regardless of what you’ve paid. Nobody should agree to thirty days with a face they haven’t seen.

People who are tired of talking to five people at once and getting nowhere with any of them. People who would rather find out properly whether something works than keep the queue warm. SWU is 18+, and one phone number is one account.

Text messages and consent

Effective 1 September 2026 · this section describes the only text messages we send. It is also available as a standalone page at swudating.com/sms.html.

SWU sends one kind of message: a one-time verification code, and only when you ask for one by signing in. We do not send marketing or promotional messages, and no part of the app subscribes you to any. Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

How consent is collected

  1. The person opens SWU and taps “Let’s go”. No phone number is requested on the first screen.
  2. They read the rules of the app and tap “I’m in”. This screen explains the 30-day match lock before any data is collected.
  3. They reach the sign-in screen, shown to the right. They type their mobile number.
  4. They tick the consent box, which is unticked by default. The consent wording sits beside the box and is reproduced in full below. The “Send code” button stays disabled until the box is ticked and a valid number has been entered — consent is active and cannot be skipped.
  5. They tap “Send code”. One SMS containing a six-digit code is sent to the number they entered.
  6. They type the code to finish signing in. No further messages are sent until the next time they sign in.
